Deer Park Hall Wedding Photographer

What you can say about this venue.… they’ve got their own deer!! So when Shula & Dan asked me to do their Deer Park Hall Wedding Photography I didn’t hesitate to say YES PLEASE!!

But that’s not all.

They planned to have an outdoor ceremony with stunning views of not only the deer park but also the Malvern Hills.

In the evening they’d arranged to have a ceilidh including a first dance with a difference.

And there’s more.

Shula wasn’t going for the conventional walk down the aisle.

Oh no, no, no, no.

She decided that she was .…. wait for it.…… going to come down the aisle.….. on horseback!!!!

A little about the venue. Deer Park Hall is in the northern part of The Cotswolds, in Worcestershire, near to the market town of Pershore.

As well as having their own herd of free-roaming red and fallow deer, they also have their own vineyard, the appropriately named Stag Oak Vineyard.

They’ve got some cottages at the foot of Bredon Hill, upon which sits the venue. One of them, The Granary, is yours for two nights as part of your booking so handy for getting ready!

Getting ready for a Deer Park Hall Wedding

I’ll come back to that juicy little equine detail later on, but lets start at the beginning.

At this particular wedding Shula, the Bride, was getting ready in Pershore at a hotel called The Angel.

The black & white image is one of my all time favourite wedding photos. I wish I could remember what had been said to get this reaction from Shula and her make up artist, Michelle G. But it certainly did get a reaction!

For me, this is what documentary wedding photography is all about.

Observing, waiting, then capturing moments like this. To produce photographs which take you right back to when they were taken, and how you felt.

Outdoor Wedding Photography at Deer Park Hall

Reasons to choose Deer Park Hall for your wedding venue:-

  • Glorious views across the valley to the Malvern Hills
  • Indoor and outdoor ceremony spaces
  • They’ve got deer!!

So, to Deer Park Hall now and their alfresco wedding with (clip clop) a rather memorable entrance!

The indoor ceremony room at Deer Park Hall, The Panelled Hall, is beautiful. But on this hot and sunny August day the couple had gone for the outdoor choice. Their guests sitting on the lawn with the ceremony itself in the Garden Pavilion.

A Bride Arriving on Horseback

So I mentioned a horse.

The Bride’s horse, brought to the venue specially for the ceremony.

Now I’d be assuming that Shula had been riding for years and years and years. That she’d been brought up with horses, almost born in the sadle.

Hell no!

Riding was actually quite a recent pastime but one she’d really taken to, hence her four-legged friend being entrusted with carrying her down the aisle.

A Wedding Reception at Deer Park Hall

Drinks outside, then the newlyweds and I had a wander, on the hunt for deer.

I mentioned that they’re free-roaming and roam they did — we had quite a hike to find them!

Then, in the evening, the Ceilidh.

I’ve done a few weddings that have had one of these for party and they are brilliant!

If you’re not sure about your guests getting up and dancing, book a Ceilidh!

With this one, the Bride & Groom had a first dance with a difference. The two of them sitting on chairs in the middle of the room whilst all their guests danced some kind of tribal ritual around them.

Definitely a wedding to remember!
