Where to start?

Sooooo much good stuff to say about the Warwickshire wedding of Rachael & Richard at the wonderful Oldberrow House.

Let’s begin with the venue, a private Victorian country house that opens its doors only a few times a year for some pretty cool wedding shindigs, like this one! For owners Joanne & Anthony it’s a proper family affair with their kids roped in to help get everything ready. But it’s not everyone that can go to school on Monday and say that there has been a wedding on their front lawn at the weekend!

Just you and I

And our bodies will change
But we’ll still be the same
As we are

I’ve photographed quite a few outdoor weddings and there are lots of ways you can do it.

Rach & Rich chose to use a Celebrant for their wedding at Oldberrow House. This allowed them to have a totally open-air ceremony AND have incredibly personalised vows that included their own ‘love story’. It was a beautiful ceremony and just to add another personal touch, at the end, everyone joined in with a sing-a-long of ‘Ho hey’ by The Lumineers!!

But before that we of course had the getting ready by Rachael and bridesmaids upstairs in the house. Followed by Rich and Best Man arriving in a v cool vintage E‑type jag, very James Bond!! I think they had a blast driving it down the Warwickshire country lanes to Oldberrow House!

Have to give props to Rachael’s make up artist, Helen Brady. As well as doing a fab job with the make up (of course!) she also was on the ball enough to have straws at the ready for the ubiquitous glass of fizz that all the girls had when they were all ready — now that’s planning!!

Outdoor wedding ceremony in Warwickshire

With this being the UK the weather kept us on our toes by sending a deluge of rain the day before the wedding, giving the Bride & Groom a nervous 24 hours. But as Rachael came down the stairs at Oldberrow House to see her Dad, her husband-to-be and guests were waiting outside on the lawn in the sunshine, exactly as planned

I love the freedom that an outdoor wedding ceremony gives me as I feel able to (discreetly) wander around the assembled throng to capture the events that unfold from every angle.

Warwickshire Marquee Wedding

With the sky turning black the wedding breakfast arrived at just the right time. The heavens soon opened but I don’t think anyone really noticed, they were having far too much fun inside the marquee on lawn outside Oldberrow House.

It amazes me how creative people can be and this wedding was a perfect demonstration. As the guests sat down they had ‘table parcel the pass’ (that’s a thing right?!) to reveal the menu (most tasty food I have to say from Fine Food Matters — nom nom), a camera and a wedding speech sweepstake form

The speeches were AMAZING, belly laughs galore, heartfelt, full of love and, sadly, tinged with sadness. But a day that brings so many people together is the perfect place to remember those no longer with us

It’s rare at weddings for their to be a speech by the Bride but I really do hope that this changes as the ones I’ve heard have been awesome.

Her Dad had brought along her old trumpet, from days gone by, for a reluctant demonstration from Rachael after LOTS of encouragement! He also claimed to have changed her name by deed poll — not sure if this actually happened though?!?!

With the Best Man revealing the lurid green mankini that Rich had been made to wear on his stag it needed the Bride’s speech to bring things back to the subject of love — I mean that is what weddings are all about isn’t it?!!

Some of the lovely people involved in putting this wedding together were:-

Marquee — Boutique Marquees

Dress — The White Boutique

Makeup — Helen Brady
